Art, Country by Country
The market, the politics and the places, one country at a time. Eleven to begin with; more as they are reported.

What a country hub is
The Editorial Side of the House
The directory says what is on and where. A country hub says why it looks the way it does: who pays for culture, who governs it, what the market did this year, and which arguments are still open.
Each page carries the same nine parts: the state of things now, the market, politics and money, society, the cities, a calendar of biennales and fairs, the institutions and people to know, how to go, and what to watch next year. Figures are sourced and dated. Where something could not be confirmed, the page says so.
The regional pages remain the quickest way to scan a continent: Europe, Asia, North America, Oceania and the Middle East. For the practical side of any trip, start with Biennale Traveller.
“The central question was not whether art should be political, but how.”
